 Message from the President

March 29, 2016

Warmest greetings!

It has been a while since my last letter to the membership but I write to you with gladness and joy because of the successful activities that we had during the beginning months of this year.  First of the milestones is the fruitful team building and conduct of the “Annual Strategic Planning” of the officers and members of the Board of Trustees last January 23 to 24, 2016 at Clark Development Corp., Pampanga. All elected trustees and officers were present and everybody stayed late at night to complete the SWOT and strategic plans for year 2016.  The Board has a lot of new faces and it was just proper that we go through a team building process for us to get to know each other well.

Barely a month after the Clark activities, ASPPI National partnered with the ASPPI- Mapua Student Chapter in conducting another milestone event, the First Occupational Safety and Health Student Convention in the MIT Gym, Intramuros, Manila on February 26-27, 2016.  OSHC’s Executive Director, Dr. Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco was the keynote speaker and other resource persons from the Bureau of Working Condition, Health Division of the OSHC and ASPPI officers gave lectures during the two-day convention.  The convention is a major breakthrough for ASPPI as it opened the doors to other school officials and students for the promotion of safety and health in their own backyards.  ASPPI got invitations already from the three schools that attended to conduct a similar convention or forum in the Visayas and Cordillera areas.

The Board is regularly meeting to prepare for two other major events and first of these is the 5th Regional Occupational Safety and Health Forum on April 29, 2016 in San Ildefonso, Bulacan. This is to be conducted in partnership with EEI Corporation as a follow-through to the 4th Regional OSH Forum in Manila Water Corp. last November 26, 2015.  The other one is the 18th Annual General Meeting and OSH Convention on August 25 to 27, 2016 in Boracay Island, which I know you will all be excited for our reunion this year.

The last of the good news is our update on the ASPPI By-Laws amendment, which the Securities and Exchange Commission already approved and certified last February 11, 2016.  Indeed, we are very thankful to our God for all the blessings He has bestowed to our organization.

See you all in our future activities!

President, ASPPI National
