RENEWAL OF OSH PRACTITIONER ACCREDITATION

Magandang araw po. Magtatanong lang po bout the renewal of my OSH Practitioner Accreditation.

I am currently a member of ASPPI Middle East and an accredited OSH Practitioner.

Mageexpire o ang aking accreditation this year. Pinapayagan po ba ng DOLE-BWC na makapag-renew kahit sa ibang bansa nagpa-practice ng safety profession?

This is not a reply to da_foreman, but a follow-up question related to renewal.

What is the part that ASPPI play for renewal? I'm renewing my accreditation as S.P. but it is still pending for months now. Have talked to DOLE Cavite office head and she mentioned that renewal process now require an ASPPI representative during their interview. Is this correct? As of now, ASPPI have not provided them schedule for the interview in DOLE Cavite.

As I remember sir, DOLE and ASPPI now work hand in hand in determining if an applicant is worthy enough para ma-issue-han ng license. One reason din, I think, was that mas familiar ang mga SP/ SC sa mga ginagawa ng isang Safety Personnel so madali nilang madedetermine kung may quality nga ba talaga ang isang applicant.

Yun nga lang may mga drawbacks din, one na ay yang situation nyo ngayon.

That is true. One seat is reserved for ASPPI in a panel discussion to really help DOLE evaluate the experience and competence of the applicant. I think the problem now is the scheduling. There is a proposal that there would be a fixed schedule of panel interview so that all applicant will know what day of the week normally is the schedule of the interview. I will raise that issue again during the ASPPI Board meeting. Meantime, continue making follow-up with them and ask what causes the delays.

This maybe a valid concern but it should be noted that DOLE is responsible for the process and not ASPPI. Ironically, I often here more of stories when interview cannot be conducted because Regional DOLE staff are busy or always out of office maiking it diffuclt to coordiante with the ASPPI representatives.

The follow-up and clarification should be addressed to DOLE and not ASPPI since OSH Practitioner accreditation is a legal process.

ASPPI Im sure can also help in a way to address this

Dont be confused,

DOLE is responsible for the processing of the documents and scheduling of interviews for us safety
personnel

ASPPI on the otherhand only helps evaluate the applicant if they are worth to be given accreditation.

I think it is not? though not yet fully familiar, kindly see your accreditation certificate at the back for terms and condition..maybe, you might need to undergo advance training first..

your at the middle east right? NIOSH certification is bigger in reflection as compare to our local certificate..

but still try to work it out..

My Opinion:

BWC-DOLE is not closely following this thread nor this forum so the only way the inquiry can be answered officially is if you can write BWC and ask for clarificaiton or instructions on what to do.

Most of my OFW colleagues and friends in safety would normally renew their accreditation during their vacation here in the Philippines. I heard that the safety experience in Middle East or abroad is accepted and recognized by BWC, with submission of valid proofs.

One comment though is that the OSH Accreditation is enforced to professionalize OSH practice here in the Philippines. While OFW's deserve special consideration to sustain their government accrediation in case they want to work again here, I am not sure if other countries do put value on it and recognize it in the companies where our OFWs work.
