I don't agree pag residential. Karamihan ng residential fires hindi dahil sa electrical deficiency. I would agree with you if it were located in the metropolis where residences are located in row housing, apartments or the like where these establishments are old. But in the provinces most are otherwise.

i think we should define first the meaning of FAULTY ELECTRICAL WIRING that we are referring to.
1. is it the error in the installation of electrical wiring during contruction of the building,
2. is it the use of substandard materials,
3. modification after years of use
4. or illegal connections (jumper)
5. using improvised extension wire
6. leaving connections exposed (open electrical wiring)
7. using temporary extension wires permanently (pansamantagal)
8. not grounding electrical equipments (ref, washing machines, micro wave oven), etc.
9. or all of the above.

But to answer the question, i think its not faulty electrical wiring but, OVERLOADING! Just like
what happened to the house of speaker De Venecia. Electrical wiring was properly installed but
due to additional appliances, equipment and lights used, overloading occurs.

Agree Dingo, they put the blame on faulty electrical wiring since that's what happens when it is overloaded. It is not the cause but blame they look into. For us SO/SP's we look for the cause and not who or what is to blame. ;)

Absolutely right stryker! and when we look to the cause, let's look deeper to identify the ROOT/REAL CAUSE and not just on the probable causes. By this, correct/proper actions will be applied. Then, we're all safe.

Right, but we don't stop there. Continuous Risk Assessment should be done to ensure the safety of all. :)

i dont agree per se with the term " faulty electrical wiring " wiring connections are always tested (pre-commissioning) and others are done (like megger etc) before the line is energized even if its just house wiring..hindi papayag ang master electrician o EE nyan hehe!!
